Question: I'm trying to play a game on the computer but it says it cannot locate the DVD-Rom?
I had a hard time getting the hard-rive too open but finally did. Now its saying that it cannot play the disc cos it cannot find the DVD-Rom. It says for me too insert the correct DVD-Rom and press OK too continue but nothing happens when I click ok. I have played the game on here many times and have no idea why its doing this. Any idea's of how I fix it? Thanks so much!
Answer: I'm going to assume by "Hard-rive" that you mean "The place I put the DVD or CD in"
More than likely the DVD drive is needing to be replaced. You can purchase a new DVD burner for under 45 dollars, if you aren't comfortable doing the replacement you can call up the local computer shops or a store like Best Buy to see what the cost of replacement and for them to do the replacement would be. Places are going to charge you some form of labor (we charge 10 dollars to install it on the spot) if they install it though.
The other reason it may be doing this is because the DVD is scratched.
If your DVD-drive doesn't open up you can use a paper clip stretched straight and you will see a small hole usually on the left side of the front of the DVD drive and you can poke the paper clip in there and it will force (in a rather non-violent way) the drive to open.
