Question: why does skin areas where the skins been torn off itch so much?

I was doing my normal running exercises and my pants were a bit torn and wrapped around my foot and tripped me and as i fell i slid for a bit and tore some skin on my leg hand, arm and knee but my right arm got a lot of skin torn off and itches vary often so i was just wondering why does this happen?

Answer: a combination of things will make it itch. scabbing/tightening of the skin/pulling. regrowth of hair and also new cells growing and repairing the damage to the skin and nerves at the ends of the hair follicles.

keep the area moister by cleaning gently daily with soap and water. rinse well and pat dry. immediately apply a topical ointment and that will keep the area from becoming to dry and tight and increase the healing processes. keep it covered with gauze and tape instead of rubbing against clothing. all of those things will reduce the itching.
